The Birth of Loot Bags
A Tale of Creativity & Convenience
Over a decade ago, my sewing journey kicked off in Seattle, sparked by thoughtful baby gifts from a neighbor. Starting with bibs and banners, I eventually found my niche in crafting bags tailored for the chaos of parenthood. I experimented with different reusable bag solutions, but they all fell short—Velcro stuck to the wrong places, unlined bags turned messy in the wash, and some were just too rigid.
Yearning for a bag that confidently handled snacks without leaching chemicals and could manage wet cloths and soiled clothes, I embarked on an extensive search. My quest led me to a Canadian company with the perfect lining fabric: waterproof, breathable, food-safe, BPA-free, and organic. To complete the package, I hunted for modern and stylish fabrics, jazzed up with vibrant zippers for a touch of fun.
Initially crafting these bags as gifts and personal items, I gradually expanded to include family members and friends. The positive response pushed me to share them with a wider audience. Loot Bags became more than a creative outlet; it became a way to reduce waste and help people organize their ‘loot’ in a fun yet functional manner.
As my children grew, so did Lootbags. Now, these versatile bags serve multiple purposes—from stashing wet bathing suits to corralling pens, securing charging cables, and safely storing food. My hope is that you, too, can find a Loot Bag that adds style and convenience to keeping your belongings in check.

Loot Bags · What’s behind the name?
Loot evokes the haul of a good pirate. Everyone’s treasure is different, but equally coveted. My loot stash boasts top-tier hand cream, a charging cable that never plays hide-and-seek, and tweezers capable of plucking a hair from a spider’s back. Spill the beans… what’s your loot of choice in this wild adventure we call life?
I grew up in Canada and later lived in the United States, Sweden, Australia, and now Switzerland. While thinking of a name for my bag collection, I wanted something easy to understand in different languages, simple, and with a meaningful touch.
Now, let’s teleport back to the golden era of my Canadian youth and birthday parties! Who didn’t love a good birthday party?! Where I grew up our post-party banter revolved around the crucial question: “What’s tucked inside the loot bag?” Sure, our American friends call it a goody bag, but same concept — a small bag filled with treats; a delight to receive. From candy stashes to mysterious toys that spoke fluent kid, it was the ultimate swag fest.
Fast forward to present day escapades in Switzerland… my loot stash now boasts top-tier hand cream, a charging cable that never plays hide-and-seek, and tweezers capable of plucking a hair from a spider’s back. So, spill the beans—what’s your loot of choice in this wild adventure we call life?
Making Loot Bags has been a wonderful and much needed creative outlet as I chose to stay at home with our kids while they were growing up. Being able to make something that creates less waste and helps people organize their ‘loot’ in a fun and functional way, has been an extra bonus. Now I use loot bags for everything from wet bathing suits to pens & pencils, charging cables, food and snacks and so much more. I hope you can find a Loot Bag that helps you wrangle your stuff too.
